Learn the steps to secure your USA student visa with guidance from ST Education Consultants.

Types of USA Student Visas

There are three main types of student visas for studying in the USA:

  • F-1 Visa: For full-time academic students attending a U.S. university or college.
  • J-1 Visa: For students in exchange programs.
  • M-1 Visa: For vocational or non-academic programs.

Most Pakistani students will need the F-1 Visa for full-time academic programs.

Ensure you have the following documents ready before your visa interview:

Studying in the USA comes with various costs, but there are ways to manage them through scholarships and financial aid. Here’s an overview:

Visa Fees:

  • SEVIS I-901 Fee: $350 (for F-1 visa applicants)
  • DS-160 Visa Application Fee: $185 (non-refundable)

Tuition Fees:

  • Tuition fees vary depending on the university and program, but they generally range from $10,000 to $50,000 per year.
  • Private universities tend to be more expensive than public universities.

Scholarships for Pakistani Students: Many universities in the USA offer scholarships and financial aid to international students, including Pakistanis. Scholarships can cover a portion or all of your tuition and living expenses. Here are some popular scholarship options:

  • Fulbright Program: A prestigious scholarship program offering full funding for graduate students from Pakistan.
  • University Scholarships: Many U.S. institutions offer merit-based and need-based scholarships to international students. Check the financial aid section of each university’s website.
  • External Scholarships: Organizations such as the Pakistan-USA Alumni Network (PUAN) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) also offer scholarships to support students studying abroad.
